Regular Adjustments Are Needed to Properly Correct the Alignment of Your Teeth

Posted .

Your new braces installed at Vincent Team Orthodontics’s Sandy, Utah clinic have been designed to gradually correct the position and orientation of your misaligned teeth. This will eventually improve the overall function and health of your teeth by reducing your chances of suffering enamel attrition and dental fractures. It will also provide you with the kind of appealing smile that can turn heads when you enter a room.

This is only possible through regularly scheduled adjustment appointments, where iterative tension is applied to braces hardware and your teeth. Each one of these sessions will bring your teeth one gradual step closer to their ideal position.

We usually try to schedule adjustment appointments at four to six week intervals. If you know of an upcoming schedule conflict you should call our offices at 801-495-2560 for a new adjustment time.

Your adjustment session also includes an inspection of the braces hardware and teeth. Spacers, bands, or any other piece of hardware that show excess wear and tear might need to be replaced. Sometimes a spacer can come loose right before a scheduled adjustment session. If this happens, you should let your orthodontist know so they can plan to replace it. This often involves setting up an earlier adjustment appointment.

Tooth decay and gum disease problems can often increase the number of adjustment sessions required to properly realign your teeth. If you’re having issues keeping your teeth and braces clean, our orthodontists can provide further insights needed to maintain good oral hygiene. Many times, we will simply recommend using some special oral hygiene tools to help maintain good oral hygiene.

If you have braces and you’re due for your next adjustment session, you should call 801-495-2560 to schedule your next session at Vincent Team Orthodontics’s Sandy, Utah orthodontic clinic.
